This is one of the largest families in the herd due to the further acquisition of her mother Malvenas 42nd and her daughter Malvenas 58th. Until 2011 Malvenas 53rd has predominantly been a bull breeder, producing Williams Voldermort by Dirnaean Reformer who was sold privately in 2009 and Williams Wizzard, by Tristar who was sold in January 2010 to Mr R Balls, Norfolk.
Malvenas 42nd has also been a bull breeder to date with her first calf under the Williams prefix being Williams Barty Crouch 10, a son of Tristar who has been shown successfully in 2011 gaining second and third placings in competitive yearling bull classes. Barty Crouch was sold privately to Messrs Cutting, Suffolk.
Malvenas 58th is the oldest in the family and has consistently produced great cattle. Some highlights from this family include:
Williams Simons Crystal originates from one of our foundation females, Horsford Manor Simone, who is by Atlow Number One and out of a Hevingham Alpha daughter. The Crystal family are now one of our very best, consistently breeding top-class females right across the generations.
Williams Crystal Jewel VG87 is a real stand-out Gallant sired young cow with an Innes sired 2021-born heifer calf at foot.
Williams Simones Crystal EX92 is a powerhouse of a Tristar daughter who was successfully shown as a two year old in 2013 and produced eight calves in 10 years. Her best daughter to date is Williams Crystal’s Fleur who stood junior champion at the English National Show at Three Counties Show in 2015. Simones Crystal currently has a 2021-born heifer calf at foot by Innes. Crystal’s daughter, Williams Crystal’s Helga, was a strong heifer taking after her mother and was sold in Stirling. She was a twin sister to Williams Crystal’s Hufflepuff who’s first daughter Williams Hufflepuffs Kenzie has come in to herd incalf to Innes.
A stand out from the day we saw her at the Hockenhull dispersal sale, Snow Queen 35th is by Popes Laird out of a Blackford Harvester daughter. Snow Queen is a traditional type with great milk and temperament. Her progeny all have her stamp of deep bodies and are strong female breeders.
Her first daughter, Williams Snow Queen, by Hockenhull Red Rum, is a well fleshed, stylish heifer which was sold privately, while her second and third have both been retained in the herd. Williams Snow Queen 4th was sold to P V Joliffe and Williams Snow Queen 8th was sold in Carlisle 2017 for 3600gns to the Warkshaugh herd. Snow Queen 5th EX92 is a Tristar cow who always produces quality for us. She has a 2021-born bull calf at foot by Innes.
Williams Josef 18 EX92 out of Snow Queen 7th EX91 has been retained as the junior herd sire. He is super long, good in his feet and legs with an excellent temperament, so he really is the full package for us. Our first crop of 2021-born calves are now on the ground from Josef and we are really excited to see what the future will hold for these. The Snow Queen family breed consistently whether it be bulls or heifers so retaining Josef in the herd was a must.
We have embryos stored from our original girl Snow Queen 35th by Heathbrow Tristar.
By Darhsam Playboy out of Sterling Champagne’s Grace, Wilhemina was shown in 2010 as a two year old heifer and stood reserve female champion at Herts County, junior female and junior champion at the Great Yorkshire Show and overall champion at Aylsham. Her first calf was a bull calf Williams Chairwizzard by Tristar and he sold privately when exhibited at The Three Counties Show.
Her most notable offspring is Williams Harry Potter, a previous stock bull here at Williams who had a glittering show career. Harry proved himself to be a great addition to the herd, stamping his progeny with his length and traditional Simmental type.
Following a run of bull calves for us, at last in 2021 she graced us with a heifer calf by Josef, Wilhemina Myrtle who we look forward to see progress within the herd.
Williams Eloises Hope is a favourite young cow full of style and of real Simmental type. This year she has a bull calf by Innes.
Belle is out of yet another foundation female, Starline Lorette 24th, a Starline Klassik daughter out of a Blackford Hawk daughter.
Lorette 24th has produced Williams Lorette Auror, a polled female who is the dam of the 12,000gns Williams Eddie. Auror’s ninth calf is an April 2021 born bull calf by Josef who is showing real potential.
Lorette’s Belle is another daughter of Lorette 24th who has produced an exceptional show heifer in the form of Williams Belle’s Elsie and Williams Belle’s Hannah, who was champion female at Stirling October 2017 and sold for 3500gns to Ireland.
Having won five Royal Show Championships and selling at the herd dispersal for 18,000gns, the Sterling Flint daughter Darsham Kit Kat is a cow that needs no further introduction.
We were fortunate enough to obtain an embryo from Paul Clements and we could not believe our luck when following a successful implantation we had a heifer calf – Williams Imelda Kat.
The Kat family have now been fully established with Imelda Kat going on to have two daughters for us in the form of Luna Kat and Millicent Kat (P).
We are really excited to watch this family develop at Williams, with some of the most famous and successful bloodlines within the Simmental breed.
