Our April 2012-born heifer Williams Wendy’s Dromeda won her class at Royal Norfolk Show before standing reserve junior champion under judge John Dykes from the Mendick herd. This Heathbrow Tristar daughter is out of Sterling Petra’s Wendy, a Sterling Rochester daughter. She has already been second at Herts County and reserve junior female at South of England.
Williams Danielle 2nd stood second in her class, she is by Darsham Playboy out of the Dirnanean Reformer daughter Tillymaud Danielle 33rd. She carries a TPI of +73 and SRI of +84. We also picked up third places with Williams Toffee’s Dolores and Williams Simones Crystal. Dolores is a Darsham Playboy daughter out of Astcote Toffee a Sterling Flint daughter. Our two year old heifer Crystal is by Heathbrow Tristar and out of Horsfordmanor Simona, an Atlow Number One daughter. Then standing second in a strong class was Williams Draco, he is a Darsham Playboy son out of Tillymaud Malvena 58th, a Blackford Lancer daughter.
We were also delighted to win the Coleman Mustard cup for winning the interbreed group with Draco, Danielle and Dromeda, who teamed up with a yearling heifer from the Sacombe herd. This was a huge honour for us as it was the first time in nine years the Limousin breed hadn’t won this prestigious competition which is won on points scored by all the beef breed judges of the show.
The sheep team also picked up reserve female champion with our first prize ewe under judge Kevin McArthur, Northern Ireland. She was bred by David Alexander and is by a Craigalbert tup out of a Millside ewe. Last year she was overall breed champion at East of England and any other Continental champion at Herts County. We also picked up a second with Victor, our shearling ram; a third with Venice, our shearling ewe and a fourth with our ram lamb Wonderboy. They are all sired by our stock tup that was bred in the Duns flock.
